Samsung Makes a Mobile Phone Battery "Anti-Burst"
Samsung
and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are working
together to make a new cell phone batteries have greater capacity,
durable and anti-explosive. The battery uses solid state technology electolytes.
As is known, there are many incidents of mobile phone battery to explode or ignite while being charged. Most of the mobile phone battery is using lithium-ion material which
has a small capacity, easily damaged, and potentially explosive.
According to MIT researchers, the source of the problem is that there is a liquid electrolyte in the battery. It moves with the liquid electrolyte particles or removes battery power and thus also potentially catch fire."All the fires you've ever seen on a Boeing, Tesla, and the other is a
fire caused by an electrolyte," says Gerbrand Ceder researchers refer
to the events of the destruction of the battery a number of Boeing 787
Dreamliner in 2013 ago.
However,
as quoted KompasTekno of Independent, Tuesday (01/09/2015), solid state
technology tested MIT and Samsung claimed to be safe and effective. Capacity can be bigger approximately 20 to 30 percent compared with ordinary lithium-ion.
"Lithium itself is not flammable if in these batteries. (Using solid
electolyte) security issues as it would not exist, you can even throw
these batteries into a wall, or driving a nail, without the event of
fire," he added.The
application of this technology is the difficulty in finding a solid
material that has the ability to conduct electricity equivalent to
liquid. If these technologies actually materialize for mass consumption, mobile phone users will get a battery that can be relied upon.
